UNITED NATIONS
I had the great honor to serve the highest rank of UN officials and most influential humanitarians of our time, among which the late IOM Regional Senior Director of the Middle East and North Africa, Mr. Pasquale Lupoli, and Mr. Pier Luigi Gentile, now an International Cooperation Advisor in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of the Republic of Italy, and Consul General of the Republic of Italy in Casablanca.
In the five years of experience working for the United Nations, I specialized in protection of children and women victims of trafficking in human beings and illegal migration, and in implementing projects for combating trans-national organized crime under the US Embassy/ USAID range of programs including the introduction of the Counter Trafficking law in the Balkan region, and the successful rescuing and rehabilitation of a major number of victims intersected in the routes of transit in South East Europe during the post conflict period.
Our efforts ranked Macedonia on the second tier of countries successfully combating Trafficking in Human Beings as stated in the US State Department Report. We also assisted 5000 forced labor claimants through the German Forced Labor Compensation Program for compensation of the Second World war survivors.
We successfully established close diplomatic cooperation in managing illegal migration and the capacity building of law enforcement and judiciary on human rights, victim and witness protection, harmonization of the legislative, the development of best practices, awareness raising campaigns mainly, but not exclusively, in the field of protection of human rights of migrants, victims of trafficking in human beings, protection and empowerment of vulnerable categories of population.
I managed the public information activities providing assistance in drafting and issuing press releases, organising press conferences, interviews, fundraising activities and presentations to donors.
I organized internal and external meetings. I hosted high-level delegation visits and organized diplomatic courtesy calls. I prepared information packages. I provided assistance in establishing and maintaining contacts with the Embassies, the National Authorities and the non-governmental sector.
I drafted and translated official correspondence and project documentation, contracts, reports, minutes, I edited publications. I compiled the monthly IOM Summary for external dissemination, the Weekly Justice and Home Affairs Reports for internal circulation, the official meetings Notes for the File, the weekly Office Coordination Meeting Minutes. I reviewed corrected and redrafted texts, checked grammar and terminology, improved style and presentation, ensured accuracy, clarity and cohesion, eliminated inconsistencies, redundancies and repetitions, checked bibliographies, verified facts, figures, footnotes, quotations and references, ensured that the documents conform to IOM editorial practices and terminology. I was one of the editors of the “Practicum on Combat Against Trafficking in Human Beings and Illegal Migration”. I prepared invitations and newsletters for distribution. I maintained follow up system for pending matters, managed mailing procedures: receipt, registration and distribution of official communication.
I represented the IOM Confidence Building Initiative (CBI) School Rehabilitation and Assistance Programs, funded by USAID, on the regular National level Education Coordination Meetings chaired by UNICEF.
I facilitated liaison activities, and established cooperation with the local NGO sector for the Daily Shelter Management for the Transit Centre for Victims of Trafficking in Human Beings and Illegal Migrants.
I compiled an implementation study for the development of the program Social and Economic Rehabilitation through Employment Assistance Services. I coordinated the preparation of the Integral Border Service Assessment and Strategic Development Project in RM carried out for the European Agency for Reconstruction. I completed research on National Migration for the development of the program Migrants Assistance Centre. I conducted research on the post conflict rehabilitation requirements of a conflict affected area. I assisted in the Prevention of Trafficking in Human Beings through formal education in the Western Balkans, programs aimed at education of street children etc.
January 2005 - April 2007, I was assigned Project Assistant to the Counter Trafficking Prevention & Capacity Building Activities. Managed the administration of the Project funded by the Government of Finland for prevention of trafficking in human beings, protection of and assistance to trafficked victims in the Balkans and the neighboring countries implementing concrete measures in Kosovo and in the Republic of Macedonia. I provided project administration and implementation assistance, organized national/international meetings, conferences, and donor visits. I handled personally and was responsible for the confidentiality of matters, maintained and upgraded the program filing system and archive.
February 2002 - April 2007, I was assigned Program Coordinator and Focal Point, German Forced Labor Compensation Programme (GFLCP). I completed the administration of a program established under the German Foundation Act for processing claims for financial compensation of former slave and forced laborers and other victims of the German National Socialist injustice.
